Images of animals on the pole banners helps quicken navigation to favorite species. The latest edition of our map includes 3x more animals illustrations.

Tulsa Zoo is color-coded in zones. The zones help turn the 100+ acre zoo into navigatable areas. Pole banners on grounds help with wayfinding by telling guests visually what zone they are in and what animals are near. The image of the animal, while fun, also helps those who can’t read english find their favorite animals.

These illustrations are a great example of putting stock imagery to good use. I was able to save a lot of time getting the base of the animals from Adobe Stock. From there I edited the species to create ours and added more in the same style.
